The easiest way to register for a class is using the online registration form and payment portal. You are also welcome to come into the school and register in the admission office or to mail a paper form to the school. Registration payments are required to hold your seat on the roster for the class of your choice, and can be paid online, or in person using cash, check, money order, or credit/debit. Students may also mail registration fees to the school using check or money order, although your seat cannot be guaranteed until the payment is received. Registration fees are nonrefundable after 3 business days.
While STLSP's programs are too low-cost to qualify for Federal Financial Aid, there are payment options available to students. All students are eligible to use payment plans, which break up the cost of tuition and fees over the time the student is enrolled, at no additional cost. More information about each program's payment plan can be found in the Courses section of the website. Many students are eligible for state, local, or third-party aid and are responsible for securing this funding prior to enrolling if they wish to utilize it. STLSP will work with these paying agencies to the extent possible within the paying agency's regulations.
If you are in an externship program, and depending on where your clinical assignment is located, you may be required to complete a background check, health physical, current TB test, or other requirements. All fees associated are extra costs to the student. Most of our clinical placements only require a TB test that can be done at any local clinic. STLSP estimates that additional costs to externship students will be between $20-$80, depending on which site you are assigned to and what documentation you already possess.

The cost of all required supplies is included in the cost of the programs at STLSP, so you will not need to purchase any supplies to utilize in class. We encourage you to purchase a pair of scrubs if you do not already own a pair, however they are not required for class so this cost is optional. If your externship site requires a labcoat to be worn, these may be purchased on your own or borrowed from the school for a refundable $40 deposit.
While you are on campus at STLSP, there is no required dress code as long as you are wearing lab-appropriate clothes. We ask that long hair is pulled back away from the face and closed toed shoes are worn. If you are in a program where phlebotomy is practiced, sleeves should be able to expose the bend of the arm easily. Scrubs are encouraged, but not required in the programs. If you are attending a clinical externship, you will be required to wear clinical externships on the last day of class during final skills assessments and to the entirety of your externship. Any color and style is fine, as long as the scrubs are clean and professional. Some externship sites will require a lab coat in addition to scrubs.
In the Phlebotomy, Accelerated Phlebotomy, and EKG Technician programs at STLSP, you will be ready to work in the field with just the certificate issued by the school since certification is not required to practice in these professions. If you would like to become certified, all of our graduates are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association's certification exam in their field upon program completion. For Phlebotomy and Accelerated Phlebotomy, this is the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) and for the EKG Technician program, it is the Certified EKG Technician (CET). STLSP holds these certification exam dates at least once a month and the advising office can assist you in registering if you elect to become certified. In the Clinical Medical Assisting program, the cost of certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) is included in the program and students sit for the exam on the last day of class. As a medical assistant, certification is expected by the majority of employers, so STLSP requires that students both take and pass this exam before successfully completing the Clinical Medical Assisting program. Although it is rare for a STLSP student to fail this exam, retakes at the cost of the student are allowed within NHA retake guidelines and your certificate will be issued once a passing score is achieved.
